Getting started

The first decisions coaches make in TactiFlag.

Can I use TactiFlag before creating a team?+

Yes. My Playbook can hold personal, reusable plays. Create a team when you want a shared roster, team playbook, practices, staff, games, and offline team preparation.

Should I choose 5v5 or 7v7 first?+

Yes. Choose the format your team actually plays before building formations. The format changes the player-count and field assumptions used by the editor.

What is the fastest way to learn the app?+

Create one familiar play, add it to one practice, include it on a wristband or call sheet, and record it once in Game Day. That single loop demonstrates how the system connects.

Teams and staff

Workspaces, rosters, assistants, and seasons.

What is the difference between My Playbook and a team playbook?+

My Playbook is your reusable personal library. A team playbook represents the calls installed for one team and connects them to that roster, practices, install evidence, and Game Day.

Can an assistant coach use Game Day?+

Yes, an authorized assistant can use team coaching workflows such as the playbook and Game Day. Team ownership controls staff administration and other owner-only responsibilities.

Should I delete an old team?+

Usually no. Archive a completed team so its history remains separated from the current season. Remove its offline download later if device storage is needed.

Playbook and editor

Creating, organizing, and teaching plays.

Should I use the simple or advanced editor?+

Use the simple editor for fast formation and route work. Use advanced editing when the play needs detailed sequence, assignment, or ball-action control. Choose the simplest mode that communicates the play correctly.

Why can’t I find a play?+

Confirm the active team and offense or defense selection, then clear search, collection, situation, install, and favorites filters. The play may also live in My Playbook instead of the current team.

What is a play variation?+

A variation is a separately callable play that shares a core idea with another play but changes something players execute, such as formation, route, motion, or tag.

What does a playbook export contain?+

An editable playbook package can include diagrams, formations, routes, assignments, ball paths, zones, coaching details, situations, and families. It excludes roster names, player profiles, observations, practices, and game history.

Practice and wristbands

Preparation, teaching, and printed sideline tools.

Can I print a practice plan?+

Yes. Build the practice timeline and notes first, then use the browser or app print workflow to create the coach copy.

Why did my wristband print at the wrong size?+

The print dialog must use 100% scale. Disable Fit to page, print one test insert, and check it in the physical holder before printing the full set.

How should install confidence be scored?+

Use observable team execution rather than optimism. Pair confidence with repetitions and a short note so another coach understands what produced the rating.

Game Day

Live controls, results, and sideline decisions.

Will Game Day work without cell service?+

Yes, for a team prepared on that device. Open Offline readiness before leaving internet access, verify the team is Ready and synchronized, then test the important screens once.

What should I update between plays?+

Keep possession, down, distance, field zone, score, and clock accurate, then record the selected play and result. Consistent situation data makes later review more trustworthy.

What is the difference between the game clock and play clock?+

The elapsed game clock tracks total game time and is started or paused from the scoreboard. The play clock tracks time between calls; choosing a play pauses it, and recording a result resets it to zero and starts the next count.

How does Game Day choose Best matches?+

It ranks plays from the current offense or defense using evidence such as field zone, down, distance, designed opponent look, team and opponent history, install confidence, favorites, saved tendencies, and recent calls. The coach still makes the decision.

What if I record the wrong play result?+

Use Undo in the saved confirmation immediately. That removes the event and restores the prior score and situation. Deleting an older result from Drives removes the history entry but should be followed by a manual score and situation check.

Does recording a turnover switch possession automatically?+

No. Recording Turnover stores the result and resets down and distance. Open Current situation and choose Switch possession when the other team takes over; that closes the active drive and starts the next one.

Why is Game Day view-only on this device?+

Another prepared staff device controls that game. The playbook and whiteboard remain available, but live state changes stay disabled to prevent competing histories. Synchronize the original device and move control online only when necessary.

Read the related guide
Is the whiteboard saved as a permanent play?+

No. The sideline whiteboard is designed for a temporary adjustment. Use the play editor when the idea should become part of the permanent playbook.

Can I recover a Game Day whiteboard after closing it?+

The game-specific whiteboard saves on the device as you work and should reopen with its last saved state. If the board reports a storage error, keep it open and free device space before depending on recovery.

Offline and synchronization

Prepared data, queued changes, and recovery.

What does Ready offline mean?+

The device has a complete prepared team pack that passed validation. Check Last synced before Game Day to confirm how current the copy is.

Will my offline edits upload automatically?+

TactiFlag requests synchronization after the connection returns, when the app resumes, and when supported changes are created. You can also tap Sync now from Offline readiness.

Read the related guide
What happens if two devices edit the same play offline?+

If the changes cannot be combined safely, the Sync Center creates a conflict and lets an authorized coach review the device and cloud versions.

Read the related guide
Can I clear browser data to fix sync?+

Do not clear data while changes are pending, blocked, or conflicting. It can remove the local copy needed for recovery. Synchronize or contact support first.

Availability, billing, and supported surfaces.

Where can I use TactiFlag today?+

The web app is available in modern browsers. The native iPhone, iPad, and Android releases are marked Coming Soon on the public website until their store listings are live.

Does every assistant need Pro?+

Team capabilities follow the team’s billing owner. Assistants use the capabilities available to that team workspace.

Why does a Pro feature appear locked after purchase?+

Purchases require online verification. Confirm the correct store or web account, reconnect, reopen Account or Pro, and use the provider’s restore option when available.

Do not store passwords, medical details, or other highly sensitive personal information. Record only what authorized coaches need for the coaching purpose.
